Mesothelioma Cancer Be Aware
It sad to hear that some people suffer this kind of sickness. I am just glad that my husband and healthy because he was a Navy before and was exposed to asbestos on the boat and if he had this sickness, it is very dangerous. Common symptoms are shortness of breath, cough, and pain in the chest due to an accumulation of fluid in the pleural space. People from 20-50 years old are more prone on this kind of sickness. It can be cure but the person having it will suffer such a hard time.
I have sympathy for someone who is suffering from Mesothelioma Cancer. I hope and pray that they will surpass this challenge in their lives. With the treatment that we have now, it is always possible that they will be healed. Books are even out in the market for awareness. So we have to aware and stay healthy.

Chemicals found in household products may affect women's fertility
Chemicals found in sofas, chairs, electronics, carpet padding and other household items have been linked to delayed fertility in women, the Los Angeles Times reported this week. The chemicals are PBDEs, or polybrominated diphenyl ethers, a flame retardant used for four decades that is being phased out nationwide with certain PBDEs banned outright. The chemicals are still contained in products that were made before 2004, and studies indicate that they can leach out and be transmitted in household dust. PBDEs also are found in food, particularly dairy products and higher-fat meat and fish. The paper said that the medical journal Environmental Health Perspectives studied 223 pregnant women and found those with the highest concentration of PBDEs in their blood were likely to experience a longer delay in becoming pregnant. Each 10-fold increase in blood concentration of PBDEs was linked to a 30% decrease in the likelihood of becoming pregnant each month.

Exercising During Pregnancy
Since my D-Day is fast approaching, I become aware with the recommended pregnancy exercises. I think it's a bit late but oh well I can still do it anyway..Lol..Honestly, I am very lazy when it comes to do some exercise. I think the only exercise that I have during this pregnancy is going to the mailbox and get the mail..LOL! I know it is necessary for me and the baby but sometimes I just don't feel like doing it, especially with the weather now,Oh my! could hardly stand outside for a long time. My first trimister was very rough, my second trimister was okay and I am on my third trimister now which is a bit hard to move around. I won't promise though but I will get my butt to do some exercise til my D-day comes. I know my husband will laugh at me about this because his been telling me to at least move around which I did for quite sometimes..Lol..I did some reading on the web and found some interesting topic about pregnancy exercises. I even play a video from youtube from a pregnant lady doing her routine exercise. That was amazing and it really helps a lot I guess. This is what I've found out on the article that I was reading a while ago.
Benefits of Exercising During Pregnancy
No doubt about it, exercise is a big plus for both you and your baby (if complications don't limit your ability to exercise throughout your pregnancy). It can help you:
- feel better. At a time when you wonder if this strange body can possibly be yours, exercise can increase your sense of control and boost your energy level. Not only does it make you feel better by releasing endorphins (naturally occurring chemicals in your brain), appropriate exercise can:
- relieve backaches and improve your posture by strengthening and toning muscles in your back, butt, and thighs
- reduce constipation by accelerating movement in your intestine
- prevent wear and tear on your joints (which become loosened during pregnancy due to normal hormonal changes) by activating the lubricating fluid in your joints
- help you sleep better by relieving the stress and anxiety that might make you restless at night
- look better. Exercise increases the blood flow to your skin, giving you a healthy glow.
- prepare you and your body for birth. Strong muscles and a fit heart can greatly ease labor and delivery. Gaining control over your breathing can help you manage pain. And in the event of a lengthy labor, increased endurance can be a real help.
- regain your pre-pregnancy body more quickly. You'll gain less fat weight during your pregnancy if you continue to exercise (assuming you exercised before becoming pregnant). But don't expect or try to lose weight by exercising while you're pregnant. For most women, the goal is to maintain their fitness level throughout pregnancy.

Michelle Obama Hula Hooping our way to health
First, the buff first arms. Then the First Lady's White House playground. Then the First Lady's White House victory garden. Then the First Lady's patronage of farmer's markets for things that grow in the filthy ground or hang on trees where birds perch and do things. It's a given that too many Americans are obese. They don't exercise enough. The good news is their flabby thighs are hidden by their drooping stomachs. Now, today First Lady Michelle Obama had a Healthy Kids Fair on the sunny White House South Lawn. Will this healthy stuff ever stop with these people? Yes, of course, it's a political show. Playing with kids at a scheduled time that allows TV studio editors to process the video in time for the afternoon/evening newscasts is part of American public life now, regardless of party. (Think the Bushes' adorable T-ball games at the White House.) But M.O.'s enthusiasm is almost contagious, making some American adults at least contemplate getting up out of their La-Z-Boys to move their enlarged bodies slightly. And not just toward the fridge. Yes, it might be a shock to the old ticker to work a little. So try walking early in the morning before your brain figures out what's going on. Never mind sitting on your enlarged keister reading books, this first lady seems determined to drive Americans, including her burger-loving, cigarette-smoking husband, to at least feel guilty about all those fries and other gunk they swallow into their bodies. As she often does in her public remarks (think Copenhagen), the president's wife falls back on her own life for story material. We learn today that in her childhood they got pizza once each year or semester, one or the other -- and then only if the children had received good grades.
We also learn Mrs. Obama loves...Read More!!!Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Heel Stick: Genetic Screening
Why do I need a Heel Stick test for my baby?
Although your living family may not have certain genetic disorders it is not out of the realm of possibility that a recessive gene may have become active in your child. The test can prevent permanent disability, mental retardation and in some cases death.
How are Heel Stick tests performed?
The Heel Stick test is done soon after you child is born, usually within the first 48 hours. Your baby’s heel is pricked and a few drops of blood are taken for analysis; the nurse collects nine or ten drops of blood and ships the sample to a lab to get tested. It is often wise to get your baby tested multiple times in order to produce the most accurate results. What disorders are tested for?
There are five categories of disorders that are screened:
Amino acid metabolism disorders
Babies with amino acid metabolism disorders, as the name suggests, have problems metabolizing certain amino acids. Babies born with amino acid metabolism disorders have missing or defective enzymes that metabolize proteins. The amino acids either are not broken down or the body cannot transport the amino acids into the cells. As a result, amino acids or nitrogen (a component of amino acids) build up in the body to toxic levels. Amino acid metabolism disorders include Phenylketonuria(PKU), Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD), Homocystinuria (HCY), Citrullinemia (CIT), Argininosuccinic academia (ASA), and Tyrosinemia type I (TYR I).
Organic Acid Metabolism Disorders
Babies with organic acid metabolism disorders cannot process certain branched amino acids. Babies born with this disorder do not produce the enzymes or have malfunctioning enzymes that do not break down these amino acids properly. As a result, organic acids build up to toxic level in the body. Some organic acid metabolism disorders that your baby might be screened for are Isovaleric academia (IVA), Glutaric acidemia type I (GA I), and Hydroxymethylglutaric aciduria or HMG-CoA lyase (HMG).
Fatty Acid Oxidation Disorders
Fatty acid oxidation refers to the way your body breaks down fat. Fat is broken down in several steps and requires a number of enzymes. If one of the enzymes in this process is not working properly the body cannot turn fat into energy for the body. The body’s main source of energy is glucose, but if there is no glucose available, your body turns to fat for energy. Babies with fatty acid oxidation disorders have malfunctioning enzymes so their bodies cannot turn fat into energy. Some examples of fatty acid oxidation disorders that your baby might be screened for are Long Chain 3-Hydroxyacyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (LCHAD), Medium Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MCAD), Short Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (SCAD), Trifunctional Protein Deficiency (TFP Deficiency), or Very Long Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (VLCAD).
Hemoglobinopathies and sickle cell disease
Hemoglobinopathies and sickle cell disease are disorders caused by abnormal hemoglogin, a protein in red blood cells that is responsible for transporting oxygen to the body. Babies with these hemoglobinopathies may have problems with red blood cell production resulting in anemia (shortage of red blood cells) or produce abnormally shaped red blood cells that cause problems in blood circulation and damage easily. These disorders include sickle cell anemia, Thalassemia, and Hb S/C disease.
Other disorders
Other disorders your baby might be screened for include Congenital hypothyroidism (a hormone deficiency that causes problems with growth and brain development), Biotinidase deficiency, Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (an endocrine disorder that affects hormone production from the adrenal gland), or Cystic Fibrosis (a life threatening disease that causes mucous secretions in the lungs to become thick causing severe respiratory problems).
If your baby tests positive during the Heel Stick screening you will need to bring your child in for additional testing. The tests are very sensitive so false positives are a common occurrence. You may need to consult a genetic specialist or pediatrician to entirely diagnose your child.

Get rid of your acne
Acne is a skin disease that is very disgusting. It is embarrassing and some people are even scared at you that will reduce yourself esteem. It is commonly affecting the upper head, neck, back, shoulder or chest. It is most common during adolescent stage and frequently continues into adulthood. The cause in adolescence is generally an increase in male sex hormones, which people of both genders accrue during puberty. For most people, acne diminishes over time and tends to disappear or at the very least decrease after one reaches one's early twenties. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take to disappear entirely, and some individuals will continue to suffer well into their thirties, forties and beyond. Some people even think that cause is of what they eat but generally the caused is by a number of factors related to the delicate balance between your hormones and your skin. We may ask How To Get Rid Of Acne and what kind of Acne Treatment to use. Should you go to a dermatologist or just have a Natural Acne Treatment. There are options to do so. What's important is to get rid of it. Ask advice. Follow what is recommended, take good care of our skin, be an acne free person and when you get rid of it, make it sure that it won't come back again.
